I don't understand why...

...regular eggs (presumably non-organic eggs that come from far away by chickens who spend their entire lives living in a 2x2 ft cage) come in recyclable cardboard cartons while organic and cage-free eggs come in I-hate-the-environment, plastic containers. Thoughts?

good point. it is like packaging. why do breakable light bulbs come in thin cardboard but scissors come in thick thick plastic. i don't get it either. J

I am so with you!! I have wondered why organic eggs are packaged that way SO MANY TIMES!!! Perhaps we should all blog about this, and then the egg companies just HAVE to take notice.

Perhaps it's because the organic eggs have a farther range of distribution and the recyclable cardboard isn't as protective.
